sunday morning and husband has to go to work...not his or my ideal sunday. so a plan was made to drive him to glen waverley and have a family lunch before he had to disappear for several hours.
on the drive there the topic of what to eat was thrown around...pho...ramen...yum cha...dumplings? dumplings kept being loudly screamed from the back seat...DUMPLINGS!!!
every restaurant (to me) on kings way was heaving. lines out the door at some... ra ramen was very busy but we were quickly shuffled upstairs to a table of 4. after a lengthy selection process we flagged down a waiter (seemed short staffed) and ordered by menu numbers.
the food started to arrive and soon our table was almost spilling over with our ordered dishes. elbows were kept tight to avoid knocking off plates and 5 year old was warned to sit still & stop stabbing everything with her licked chop sticks...the eating began!
family of 4 ate for $57:
spinach with chefs special sauce (kind of peanut tasting)
steamed chicken dumplings (a bit tasteless)
fried beef dumplings...awesome!
shanghai fried noodle...fabulous!
spring onion pancake...crispy & delicious
chilli oil chicken...spicy & moorish
steamed rice
+ gls chardonnay & boags beer...& complimentary tea (spilt everywhere, annoying thermos!)
