flamingo cafe, winn street, fortitude valley

my good friends ian & leanne (known by my children as nian & nanannne) told me about flamingo cafe....... i have now been several times - firstly they have my favourite coffee in the whole wide world!!!!  GENOVESE!  and they treat the ground beans very kindly by delivering fine coffees.  on my first visit i had their classic spinach & fetta pie - delicious and served w a rather kitsch salad of iceberg, green pitted olives, sliced onion and dressing.  Sammy (my friend) had the corned beef sandwich on rye and served with salted crisps.  on my most recent visit with ru ru rabbit (my youngest child) i had a latte to start followed by toasted seed bread smothered in labne, avocado, tomato & basil - fantastic to put it mildy.  Ruby had the strawberry & watermelon juice and was happy and is still today obsessed with her pink flamingo swizzle stick!  Beautiful spot on a wintry day to sit & watch the cool staff work their magic.  long live flamingo!
