dandelion & driftwood, 45 gerler rd, hendra

i am very excited about this post....having driven past dandelion & driftwood several times i finally visited this morning & got a real education in how they make their coffee.  i chatted with owner penny wolff (also owned with her ptr peter wolff) & she talked me through their different methods....i found it fascinating.  they are the only business in brisbane providing these coffee methods....peter co-founded veneziano coffee in melb 12yrs ago & launched veneziano in brisbane, selling the business in january 2010.  penny & peter then focused on their own venture opening dandelion & driftwood in oct 2010.  they have their own roastery in banyo supplying themselves using single origin beans.  they have two house blends - (1) dandelion...which is directed more for the female palate...gentle, sweeter, balanced & (2) driftwood...which is more for the male palate....dark & robust.

to start i ordered a latte - which was fabulous!....i then ordered an aeropress coffee which they used dominican montana verde blend.  i drank this black & was amazed about the flavour....sweet, juicy & fruity!

other methods of making their coffee include chemex, trifecta, syphon & yama cold drip....you might need to be guided when you visit by the helpful staff....i was!

their menu looks great & their lolly trolly was very tempting for my little ruby.  they use la perruche sugar (which i love)....their la marzocco coffee machine powder coated in glossy cream is gorgeous!....cakes are made by the reputable local "cakes by judy c".  penny said that similar business set-ups to them would be seven seeds & sensory loud in melbourne.
the attention to detail, passion, service & quality of dandelion & driftwood leaves me feeling brisbane is very lucky to have them here.
open 7 days mon-sat 8-4pm (sundays 8-2pm)
