my friend carla from vanillapod recently introduced me to monty's chocolates in paddington. (carla is a fan of monty's & stocks several of monty's lines in her shop in ascot).
we met steve (owner of monty's w ptr dori sheldon) & he took us on a little chocolate journey that lasted much of the morning...no complaints from me! steve is so passionate about his beautiful store, chocolates that he imports & everything to do with fine chocolate that you can only find his enthusiasm contagious! first up we devoured the house made thick custardy hot chocolate...our chocolate tasting order is listed below...i have to say the stand-out favourite was the barre infernale noire from francois pralus - OMG!...& the liquid sea salted caramel is something i will never forget...advice...eat in one bite!

valencia almond 75% from pralus, france
barre infernale noire 75% outer with praline hazelnuts & almonds from piedmont, pralus, france
chilli & highland whisky ganache with 72% outer, coppeneur, germany
ecuduor hacienda iara 62% from coppeneur, germany
hazelnut covered with 45% milk chocolate from pralus, france
liquid sea salted caramel (made for gordon ramsay claridges restaurant) by gerard, uk
...all this was washed down with a fine cup of yorkshire gold tea!
