sassafras is close to my heart as i worked there for almost 2 yrs.  owned by peter clarke, the cafe is over 10 yrs old & known in brisbane as a cafe that serves excellent breakfast & lunch.  kelly bloye, head chef, makes all things from scratch.....many things are so popular they cannot be removed from the menu.  like the chilli corn cakes, ricotta hotcakes w honeycomb butter & maple syrup....or one of my favourites the vego breakfast w scrambled tofu - delicious!  kelly also makes, bottles & sells lemon oil & smoking oil - they are signatures to sassa & really good for home....

"sassafras on toast" is the cafes cook book printed & released late last year....it has all the menu regulars in it along with some others.

sassa coffee is by fix, grinders & always good....my usual is the soy latte.  plenty of pics to see as i wanted to use them all!  the cafe has loads of charm as in an old cottage with second hand furniture.....almost like stepping inside someones house & being fed well while there.  breakfast bookings on the weekend are essential....you can also hire out the back courtyard for functions.  check out their website for details www.sassafrasfoods.com.au
