giardino cafe, 212 bapaume rd, amiens, stanthorpe

before leaving brisbane for stanthorpe a client of mine (who also enjoys visits to stanthorpe) recommended giardino cafe for lunch....he knows the chef/owners & said they do good food....when we got to stanthorpe, vince from vincenzo's, suggested we have lunch @ giardino's....then whilst shopping @ high st vintage we were recommended to have lunch @ giardino's....so by this stage we booked sunday lunch @ giardino's!  chris (chef from uk) & kristy swordy opened giardino's 2 yrs ago....after living in brisbane & both being in hospitality for some 10yrs they seeked a quieter lifestyle...

the restaurant itself is large & has a fire place w lounges & daily papers @ one end.  our booking was for 1pm & the restaurant was reasonably busy when we arrived.  our table was near the fire & next to our table were bkts of toys which instantly amused the 4 children.  with the weather chilly outside we liked the idea of the coq au vin w mash (it was really flavoursome), hearty spaghetti bolognaise & the children loved the spaghetti w napoli sauce & creamy tomato soup.....we enjoyed a bottle of local cabernet sauvignon & all felt pleasantly satisfied...the italcaffe coffees were a perfect way to finish sitting beside the fire.
